For the past two years we have spent the July winter holidays at home. Whilst many were packing bathers and sunhats to follow the sun around the globe we stayed home dressed in ugboots, beanies and gloves.

Whilst others sipped cocktails watching beach sunsets, we caught trains and explored our city, we kicked fallen leaves and rode the swings in playgrounds. We went ice skating, climbed fallen tree trunks in forests and learned how to make damper over open fires. We watched movies, read lots of books and baked biscuits and many cakes. We got outdoors whenever the sun shone to ride bikes and enjoy ice cream. We hung out in pyjamas and had lots of warm cuddles with our puppy.

There is something magical about a winter holiday at home. When you stop and slow down, it really is a time of wonder.
